“Time Warner Cares” profiled various non-profit organizations here in the desert, giving each of them a “face” that could be appreciated along with their good works. “AnimalChat” celebrated the valley’s pets and the people who loved them and quickly became a viewing favorite with thousands of desert pet lovers.

Also a professional ASCAP songwriter, Kate recently wrote the music and lyrics to "The Animals' First Christmas", a tender Christmas carol for children and all animal lovers. It tells of the stable animals that stood around the baby Jesus on that special night...each sweetly observing Him and commenting on what they felt and saw. Kate plans to donate at least 50% of all profits from this charming song to the Critter Coalition, the non-profit 501 (c) 3 she founded in 2003 and that you are reading about on this site.
Finally, here in the Coachella Valley, California, home of many charming, world popular vacation sites including Palm Springs and Palm Desert, Kate has enjoyed several community service awards. In 2003, she was honored as the "Desert Woman of the Year" and in 2007, was acknowledged as a "Woman of Distinction in the Arts" by the prestigious National League of American Penwomen.
This year Kate will enjoy her 11th year as MC Emeritus for the delightful "Pets On Parade" desert fund raiser that benefits the horses of "Pegasus, the Riding Academy for the Handicapped" and the no-cost/low-cost spay and neuter Program of "Animal Samaritans", a premiere desert animal assistance organization.

"In the end" Kate says, “knowing I’ve done all that I can to help animals and the people who love them will make me feel that my life had meaning. I have a particular feel for Seniors and their pets. Frankly, if I do nothing else with the Critter Coalition but give support to them and their pets when in need, whether it’s pet food, litter or a vet bill, I’ll feel I’ve done something worthwhile.”
“I was raised by my Grandmother and know how deep the connection is between our older citizens and their four legged friends. Sometimes their pets are the only family they have. Keeping them together in hard times is deeply important to me and is a special way to give back for all of the good I’ve been given.”
Kate continues “Like so many other animal lovers, my arrival home can be the highlight of my day with all my “furries” bouncing around, happy to see me, eyes dancing. And I know I’m not alone in loving this. Here in America especially, there are millions of others who experience the same kind of delight with their fur ball family. Actually, I think the world would be a much better place if we'd all just work on becoming the person our pets already believe us to be!" she laughs.
